The Curriculum of Saint Elizabeth School is based on the New York State Standards which serve as a baseline for more relevant and rigorous learning experiences which meet Archdiocesan and New York City expectations. This core curriculum is called The Essential Learnings. The curriculum provides a challenging program that aims to meet the needs of students in the 21st Century. We teach for success throughout life rather than on a single test. Our school is decidedly future-focused, and incorporates both educational technology and interactive learning.
Within our school academic excellence is further enhanced by values which foster the growth of our students as truthful, generous, and joyful people capable of becoming leaders in our community and our world.
A variety of learning strategies are used to connect with the child’s framework of understanding. Essential Learnings encompass basic knowledge and skills in mathematics, science, social studies, language arts, art, physical education, choir, educational technology and religion from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 8.
Our skilled teachers tailor their lessons to meet the learning styles of each of their pupils.
St. Elizabeth School maintains rigorous academic standards. Our New York State Test Scores are higher than all local averages. St. Elizabeth is implementing the national common core standards. In order to assist parents in the understanding of the new common core standards that will be implemented in the Archdiocese of New York, a set of Common Core resources for parents has been created. These resources include an overview of the new common core English Language Arts and Mathematics standards along with grade level specific information.
